Arrival is recorded jointly
Quantity and time, agreed at the gate by the driver and the receiving clerk rather than written into two systems.

The clock runs from that record
Not from a note transcribed later, and not from an entry made when someone had a spare moment.

Departure is recorded the same way
The other endpoint, captured the same way, by the two people who are again standing there.

The invoice is arithmetic
Rate times duration. The rate was in the contract and the duration is no longer anybody's opinion.
Damage, shrinkage and bonded goods still need their own handling. What ends is arguing about a Tuesday eleven months after it happened.
